It’s been a few days with my Commuter Mustang and I think I’m ready to get ready to plan mods
1. Handling- my plan is to install better pads, swaybar, and at some point wider wheels.
2. Power- I don’t want to Turbo at this moment, if I can get some suggestions for options to increase power without turbo that would be welcome
But other than that feel free to ask anything you want.

I had no idea these came in coupe form. Every one I’ve ever seen in person was a liftback.

You sure about no turbo? It’s a common build.

Look to find an 8.8 to replace the 7.5. Relatively cheap upgrade. And then can add rear discs and a Torsen if you wanted. Plus that thing most likely has 2.73/3.08 rear gear, blah. Gear change is another benefit.
Of course not sure what fits the budget. You can go mild to crazy in suspension upgrades alone.

I’ve done this swap, if there’s anything specific you want to know let me know. I’d skip modding the engine and start stockpiling parts. As far as suspension stuff goes SN95 cars are excellent donors and somewhat easy to find in the yards.

My roommate has a 5.0 LX hatch. It's funnier because he prefers the coupe and I prefer the hatch.

Not yet, I’m trying to keep the build to $600 max

Cheap way to upgrade the swaybars would be to salvage one off of a Thunderbird or Lincoln Mark VII. I believe they had much stiffer anti roll bars. For power without tubo... Maybe look up some Pinto mod forums. I’ve seen the engine tracked before and a version used to power old Bobcat tractors with a simplified pulley system.

What about subframe connectors? They should be at the top of any Fox mod list.

go to summit, and find a camshaft, and headers mabe an intake.
look for your casting numbers for your head, on the head. look up the max airflow for the amount of lift, and where it about peaks off at. get a cam with that ballpark amount of lift, and get a lobe separation somewhere in the 110 range, more or less. and get a duration thats rated so that you the rpm range is not too far off idle.............. probly cost you in the range of $200
find a long tube header that fit the car. thatll give you torque. and itll probly cost around........ $250
and get a good intake manifold. thatll probly run around another 250-300. get it to optimize the area just above idle, where you will be using the car.
youll be in around your 600 range, but it will wake it up. make it at least peppy

I bought a new 80 Fairmont Futura with the 2.3 and a 4 speed........if your budget is 600 bucks?
Good luck.
I had that car for 8 years and I beat the living shit out of it the whole time I owned it......you could use a sundial to time 0-60, but I’m sure you already know that :-)
I think your best bet would be to try and find a junkyard turbo T-bird and scavenge parts or the entire engine.
